Hooked on You is about an attraction that cannot be explained rationally.
Sometimes someone enters our life and we suddenly realise that we are drawn to them. We return to them in our thoughts, look for their presence and notice them among everyone else. It may be love, infatuation, desire or simply an inexplicable emotional connection.
The fish beside the body becomes a visual metaphor for this feeling — as if it has truly caught us and refuses to let go. Its shadow across the chest adds another layer: the fish is no longer simply beside the figure; its presence becomes part of her, almost an imprint of this attraction.
The title creates a playful question: who caught whom — did the person catch the fish, or did she herself get caught by her own feelings?
The water intensifies the sense of being immersed in this state — when a feeling takes hold so completely that the world around us gradually fades into the background.
This painting continues my exploration of the inner world through female imagery, using the body, water, shadows and symbolic elements to express subtle emotions, desires and states of connection.
