Fish Eye View is about the way we sometimes give our worries more importance than they deserve.
Many of our problems are like small shadows moving through our minds. We notice them, return to them and look at them again until they begin to occupy far more space than they actually should.
The small fish surrounding the eye become a metaphor for these worries. The eye represents our perception — the place where things can grow or shrink depending on how closely we look at them.
The title Fish Eye View plays with the idea of a fisheye lens, where perspective and proportions are distorted. Our own thoughts can do something similar: turning small things into something much bigger than they really are.
Sometimes all we need is a little distance to see the small fish for what they are.
This painting continues my exploration of the inner world through female imagery, where the visible becomes a metaphor for thoughts, emotions and the way we experience the world around us.
